We play all over the country and Birdy's is one of our favorite stops...heres why...AWESOME stage, always had awesome sound guys, and although you don't get free drinks, they're still PRETTY cheap! lol You do have to bring your own crowd, so if you're a smaller touring act, hook up with a local act or 2. This place brings in fairly big names because of its sound and stage...if you want those two things which are sometimes hard to find on the road...play here!

If you are ever stopping in Indianapolis, do NOT play at Birdy's. They treat bands like crap there. They wouldn't even let my wife in for free and she was the only one coming in with the band. There are no free drinks or even discounted drinks for the band. Oh! And if you start a tab, they charge $75 to see if you have that many funds in your bank account. They don't even let you know before you start a tab so if you don't have at least $75 in your account, you'll overdraft. I confronted the bar tender about it because people were telling me not to start a tab when I had already boughten a drink with my card and she told me that they take if off once it goes through. They need to be better at communicating with their costumers, especially when it's dealing with their money. The sound guy, Scott is incredible. He's super nice and patient. I think he must know how much the staff he works with sucks so maybe he tries to be 120% more to try and make up for the garbage service at Birdy's. The sound sounds great in that venue, that is really nice especially if you ever want to record a live show. but then again, you'd have to step foot in that place and I don't think you really want to do that. It's usually dead also. 71st and Keystone isn't a very happening place. There aren't any other bars around and the majority of the people who go to shows here in Indianapolis I think are drawn to dive bars where they can hop from one to the other. Stay away. I can't believe this place is up and running.

I gave this 3 stars, just for the history! The place is awesome, with a sick stage, light show, and a really cool sound guy! If not for the sound guy, we would have probably been bar fighting with the staff and getting thrown out of the place. Thestaff is extremely rude and I dont know how they manage to keep business. If you are playing in Indy, DO NOT GO TO BIRDY'S!!! Hit Mousetrap, Locals Only, or even Tip Top Tavern. The soundguy is the only reason to play this venue, and he is SICK! They have no respect for Indy on the Move artists, so please stay the hell away from this venue!!! In fact I'm changing it to 2 stars now that I remember how much they suck!

I will have to agree with an earlier review. Good stage, great sound but bands are treated like 'help.' There is little to no respect for artists that play there.

It is a really cool venue and if you're able to get a lot of people out to the show, it should be a lot of fun. The sound guy that was working when we were there was not good, no sound check, and the monitor levels were terrible. Its still a great place, just hope to have a better sound guy!

Big room and stage but bands gettin treat more like "help" than Artist. No band beer and no respect... Last resort for indy.

A great sound system, some great bartenders, an excellent space, but no built-in crowd. Make sure you have a big headliner or something, or else you and the other bands will be the only crowd there. Still, a favorite.

Great big club with quality sound. Birdy's is good about giving out of town bands a shot a playing. Draw backs are its location, kinda off the beatin path, and lack of regulars. You will want to have some kind of draw, or hook up with some good locals.

Awesome sound and a decent sized stage, Birdy's has a great weekend draw. The only downfall is that it is not located directly downtown in Indy.

This is a pretty great place to play when you can draw a crowd. The employees are friendly and helpful, the sound guys are great. The stage is a bit small, but raised about 4 feet off the ground, which is nice. Overall, I would say it's a great venue and would recomend it.
