The sound is good there, sure, but as others have said, the pay to play aspect is not worth it. The amount of tickets they expect bands to sell to play with other local bands is ridiculous. 60 tickets to play with a bunch of no-name bands is a joke. Plus, they do take percentages off your merch sales... because they can. There's hardly any decent shows held here anymore. I think most good bands realized to play at fair venues instead.

Do not play here. There are hundreds of better clubs to play in L.A. Why shouldn't you play here? Let me count the ways: 1. Pay to play 2. They take a percentage of your merchandise sales (everything except CDs) 3. The people who work there are assholes (except the sound/stage guys). 4. Parking for your fans is a bitch. By the time your fans enter the door, they have paid close to $20 already. 5. The Whiskey is just outdated and overrated. DON'T DO IT!

Dude. Seriously if you can't bring people and don't have fans man then don't play the Whisky. I have played the Whisky a couple times and each time it was better and better. They give you some presale and thats cool cause my band made money off those and sold them all in a couple days. then the sound was f**king awesome as all h*ll! Not to mention we got a rad soundcheck and not many clubs let you do that without paying. OH ALSO after we kept playing there we gotta cheaper and less tickets! The booking department were super cool and nice and showed up for our show too! EACH TIME! I'm not sure why some douche above had a problem but man the Whisky rocks and they know their sh*t! best in F**KING HOLLYWOOD!!!

I answered a call to be a fill in, and was expected to sell tickets with only 5 days before the show. They actually told me to sell the tickets down the street in front of the Cat Club or the Roxy. I didn't scalp my own tickets and I had people coming down to pay at the door. Once the club told me that I might not play because I didn't sell any tickets- My four band members called everyone we knew that was coming down and told them to go home. They pretty much only care about money and not putting on a great show - I was co-billed with thrash/screamo bands - I play straight up Rock. I recommend the Cat Club next door - way cooler people and the vibe is wonderful.
