The most important relationships that a band makes, aside from with fans/potential fans, are the ones formed with venue bookers. Sometimes the bookers just book. Sometimes they tend bar or run sound. Whenever you book a show, if that gentleman or gentlewoman who was goodly enough to let you play their venue, make your presence known to them. Shake hands, make small talk, compliment their venue and the process which took place to get you their. Even if the process was utter hell and their venue is a shit hole, make sure they know how awesome it is for you to be there. Take care of the bartenders and make sure even if youre getting free drinks that you throw a tip their way because for all you know, theyll be booking the next time you come by. Make sure they know that if your band is playing again in a few months, that you are all awesome people. |
